About the Teacher

KD Chatmon is the owner of Ohma Creations© and founder of OhmasArtLessons©. She has been a professional artist for over twenty five years, holds a MFA degree and has taught in both the US and Africa. Her art pieces have been sold at the Smithsonian Institute of American Art and shown at the Corcoran Art Gallery in Washington, DC. Notables such as Oprah Winfrey, Maya Angelou and Denzel Washington own some of her art pieces.

Nicknamed “Ohma” by her youngest, KD is the proud mother of four and the grandmother of two. Her passion for drawing and love of children of all ages inspired her to lend her talent to teaching this excellent form of creative expression. She has had students from ages 4 years to 75. Presently KD is working on illustrations that she plans to use in a graphic novel she is writing for children, recounting her adventures in Africa. KD lives in Waldorf, Maryland with her son, Kahriq and her hardest critic, a Chiweenie named Billie.
